I have written countless bios for clients, family, and friends but when it comes to writing about myself, I go blank. Maybe this is a good sign. Maybe, I’m not a narcissist?

That being said, this page is here to tell you about me. Since I’ve been writing a memoir, you think I would have that down—not so. Who am I? It’s a good question to ask of yourself. Here goes my attempt to answer:

Professionally, I have almost always been a writer in one form or another. I was first published in Insight magazine when I was in college. That is if you don’t count my hand-bound copy of Our Presidents from third grade. With a B of A from UW-Milwaukee in Mass Communications, and an internships with Viacom Cable under my belt, I went on to write ad copy which led me to try a career in film making in Los Angeles. I didn’t exactly make any movies, but I did co-own a production company where I wrote, produced, and directed commercials, corporate training and marketing videos, news promotions, travelogues, and educational films. I also dabbled in set design which carries through today in my penchant for home decorating…and redecorating…and then doing it all over again.

When marriage and two young children demanded a bit more of my attention, I focused on freelance writing that I could do from home, and no one would know I was under slept and working in my pajamas. I’ve published a picture book, The Jelly Boat Book (starring my son and niece) as well as several articles, essays, and short stories. I have also worked as a ghostwriter and editor, completing several manuscripts over the past few years for awesome clients, while also writing my own stories, which are safely tucked away in my right hand desk drawer.

I grew up in Indiana and northern Wisconsin; worked, wondered, and wandered in Los Angeles until I settled down to husband, home, and kids in Ojai, California. Today, I’m continuing the process of exploration living in the third least densely populated state in the country—Montana. It’s beautiful here with lots of space and time to think and write.
